Company & History

Nestle Waters is established in Paris, France in 1872. Nestlé Waters is the world’s leading bottled water with 75 different brands in 130 countries. Nestle Waters is the bottled water group of Nestlé Group centered in Vevey, Switzerland. www.nestlewaters.com

Nestlé Waters entered into Turkish water market trrough the JV agreement signed with Sanko Holding in year 2001. Nestlé Waters Turkey has a factory as Kestel Bursa

Greater involvement for Nestlé in the water industry. Convinced that the search for good nutrition goes hand-in-hand with the benefits of mineral water, Nestlé acquired a 30% stake in Société Générale des Eaux Minérales de Vittel (SGEMV) in 1969. At the time, SGEMV was France 's third largest mineral water company. In the 1970s, Nestlé strengthened its ties to water by acquiring several German springs via Rietenauer and Blaue Quellen AG. Then it acquired a controlling interest in SGEMV in January 1992, and went on in May of the same year to buy out the entire Perrier Group.

The combined operations are forming to lay the foundation for Nestlé's long-term commitment in the bottled water field.

Almost as soon as the Group was created, it started stepping up its development. It gradually became established in the rest of Europe and Asia, then in Latin America . Its American subsidiary already had a front seat in the United States .

The Group developed "Home & Office" there, a market segment still relatively unknown in Europe , which consists of delivering water coolers to homes and offices.

The Group constantly innovates to support geographic expansion. In 1992, Nestlé was the first company to dare to launch a mineral water, Valvert, in five different countries at once. Its originality lied in the use of an all-new plastic, P.E.T. (polyethylene teraphthalate), which is stronger and more elastic than the PVC used since 1968. Besides, P.E.T. is recyclable.

The Group has been busy launching other innovative products as well: sparkling Quézac water, "P'tit Vittel" water for children, and the sports cap first used in the United States , then in Europe . In 1995, it created the Water Institute as a repository for knowledge on water as well as to initiate and fund research programs on water and hydration.

By the end of 1997, the Group was present on every continent and the acquisition of Sanpellegrino propelled it to the top of the Italian market.

New concepts and waters by Nestlé. A new development phase begins in 1998: on the one hand, the acquisition of Italy's leading bottled water producer, known by the name of its prestigious S. Pellegrino brand; on the other hand, the launch in Pakistan of the first multi-site bottled water under the Nestlé brand, NESTLE® PURE LIFE® , a safe, healthy, easily transportable, pleasant tasting water for the whole family at a reasonable price.

Six years after its launching, NESTLE® PURE LIFE® is established on 18 countries of Asia, Middle-East, Africa, North America and Latin America . 2000 was a year of accelerated development in Home & Office Delivery. Within a few months, thanks to targeted acquisitions such as Al Manhal in Saudi Arabia , Dar Natury in Poland , and Aqua Cool in the UK , Nestlé Waters jump to the lead of this new sector in Europe and the Middle East , thus expanding its North American leadership. The same year, the Group implements the multi-site brand concept in Europe , by launching Nestlé Aquarel, the first pan-European brand of spring water, in six countries simultaneously. The brand is now present in 8 European countries. In 2002, the Group adopts the name Nestlé Waters.

The past 10 years have seen Nestlé Waters strengthen its market positions. Established today in 130 countries, with a portfolio of 77 brands, Nestlé Waters continues to meet the consumer needs thanks to the wide variety of its offer in terms of distribution and product mix.
